Special Operations
Forces Officers
SOF are elite combat units that operate with stealth, concealment, and
surprise to accomplish their operations. SOF conduct search and destroy
missions, clear underwater mine fields, and go behind enemy lines. They
provide specialized air power for worldwide deployment and assignment
to conduct unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, counterterrorism,
foreign internal defense, humanitarian assistance,
psychological operations, personnel retrieval, and counternarcotics.
Special Comment
For the most part, Special Operations are not entry-level positions.
The military is looking for service members who have already proven
themselves prior to special operations duty.
Restricted
At the present time Special Forces
occupations are restricted to male
military members only.
Education
